The DOJ's Attempt to Overcome the Violence and Chaos at the Capitol

On the evening of January 6th, Trump and co-conspirator one attempted to exploit the violence and chaos at the Capitol. They thought if they got close enough to the 20th and then tried to get towards, as Jeffrey Clark put it, military force on the home front, that they might stay in power. The fact that it wasn't successful just showed that while the scheme was so brazen, ultimately there were forces in place in guardrails that prevented the interference with a peaceful transferpower for the first time.
