The Great Stork Derby

The Great Stork Derby is a real event that took place in Toronto in the 1920s. A wealthy financier Charles Vance Miller left $9 million to women who had most children over 10 years. The contest created a media frenzy and inspired Caroline Leah's new novel, Prize Women. Isabella Coles has been in touch saying I'm 14 and a competitive swimmer. We will continue to talk about them here on Woman's Hour.
