Is There a Thick Market in India?
For any well functioning thick market, you do need some legal and physical intra structure. And that is exactly what seems to be missing in the indian mix. But let me just say that the other aspects that you raise are also right, that india having many, many, many small farmers, of the farm size distribution is being skewed to the left. That is a problem. Transportation is a problem initially. If you have smaller farmers with less output, you are also not harnessing the scale economies in transportation.
