There's nothing in king's regulations that tells you what to do when our air field has just been bombed and ridden out completely. We landed, weaving between the bomb holes like dirt track risers, hoping we'd not fall into the holes. Had never seen balloons over dover before - even though there were thousands of balloons over london to prevent lo german attacks. 30, forty or 50 fight german fighters appeared.
