For the eighteenth and nineteenth century spain gets into trouble. It's lived offe an extracted economy in in latin america, bringing in e lots of silver to prop up its own economy. Then it takeslon to get into debt and folds and becomes bankrupt. And then it basically gets tied into france and french history. Napoleon appears at the end of the nineteenth century. The peninsular war is, to usis wellington ande and everything, all the battles he won in spain. But to spaniards it's actually their war of national liberation.
