Sitting Bull and the American Indian Movement in the Late 18 Eighties
In the late 18 eighties, there's a major resistance movement and anti colonial movement that spreads through lots of reservations in the american west. Many lakota leaders did oppose the movement. They thought it was wrong. And dangerous. Sitting bull certainly gave it support. Whether he was a believer or not, i'm not sure anybody really knows. In this context of trying to suppress what mc loughlin thought of is very dangerous movement, the gho stands. The police killed sitting bull and some of the others in his home. I think it can be fairly seen as a political assassination.
