The Anonymity of the Market
The ideal kind of outcome for a social system is one in which we are coerced by means beyond our apprehension. The way the market works best is when it has no face. When we don't, we don't know why we are being compelled to live in this house rather than that house or driven by this car instead of that car. That's the trick.
