There was a movie that was meant to be an adaptation of this book, but it was o not true to the book. The people who were adapting the screen play figured out that if they had done a good enough job,. that john irving would let them have owen meane. That's why they chose the name simon birch. I just thought that was a fun little piece of trivia. A great cast in that movie, but i don't remembersinly i saw it, oliver plad ast David and jan hook swille.
