How to Make a Tener Voice With a Nasal Resonance?

Sylvane asks, i'm recording some gospel slash soul vocals. The lead singer has a sort of thin nasal tone of voice. He still packs a lot of passion and dynamic flare into his singing. I can hear in my mind's ear how it could really sound full and rich in a mix. Is it possible to make a tener voice with a nasal resonance? Any advice on mike choice, e c or compression?
