What Happened to Hotwire in the Nineties?
Hotwire was founded in the late nineties. The company sold airline tickets and hotel rooms to tens of thousands of customers around the world. After 9/11, "nobody travelled for like six months" Hotwire went through a down round which wiped out equity that employees had in the company. But two years later, it bought expedia for about 700 million dollars all cash.
