The Wagner Group in Sudan

It would be convenient if there was an external all-purpose villain to account for the viciousness of what's happening and the timing. It is true that the Wagner group, Russia's most bloodthirsty, most ubiquitous mercenaries, have a presence in Sudan. We know that the Russian state is intimately connected with the President Al-Bohans troops as well. The broader pattern seems to be that this gold needs to find its way to world markets and does so via port Sudan to the UAE. There is a transaction that turns gold into cash in the UAE, into weapons, Libya is involved and the weapons come back to Wagner and possibly the RSF in Sudan.
