The Evolution of the Pattern of Practice Investigations

When I accepted the job, I was a baby attorney and came in through the honors program just out of a clerkship after law school. And so actually when I went to DOJ, I initially really focused on the prison and jail work but it was pretty quickly learned doing that work that most of the people in prisons and jails shouldn't be there. So lucky for me, we have the statute that allowed me to really look into that and try to see what was happening, how the police were treating people. But my career has very much run on a parallel to the development of the enforcement of that statute.
