Using Words to Make the Point Clear When You're Analyzing Data

I think too often people in analytical roles who are doing a lot of analysis of data want to simply present the data right and assume that the audience will know what to do with it. The challenge is audiences are faced with just increasing amounts of data all of the time, so when we simply serve up more data it's really easy for an audience to say that's interesting and then they turn their attention on to the next or worse they ask you for even more data. If you take it to the next step you say not only audience here's the data but here's something you should do with this data  it gets your audience thinking about action and focused on the right sort of conversation.
