Persia and Rome - The Persians and the Roman Empire
The Persians allowed languages of nations and peoples to flourish, as they had done always. There was no desire at all to impose persian on conquered peoples. It's a very different way of thinking about how empire could operate in antiquity and beyond. As unpleasant as all empires are, i'm not anana. I do believe there would have been a more dignified way of allowing peoples to express themselves by themselves if we'd adopted a persian system.
