Bacteria in the mouth use these sugars for energy, and they produce acid as a by product. But whenan they use laktos, they don't produce as much acid as they would from sugar like sucos. And other carbohydrates can be broken down in the mouth to glu cos. In saliva, there's an ensigne called amalas, and this breaks down these other carbohydrates into glucos - which is really damaging for teeth.
