General shu da and his army were sent into huguang to occupy surrendered or wavering cities in jiang shi and huguang. This was a careful and very delicate choice, as it was known far and wide that general shu ran an exceptionally tight ship in terms of keeping strict control over his troops and their conduct. Only someone with shoda's reputation and stirling record of command would possibly have been believed. In late october of 13 64, sho's army was admitted to jang ling, eling and thang sha without incident. Most of the hon commanders and aboriginal chieftans opend their gates without resistance after that.
