The American Revolution came about because the 13 colonies, they were started in the early 17th century. They had reached a state of maturation in the British Empire where frankly they did not want to be treated as second class citizens. The things that the Civil War accomplished were the emancipation of enslaved people and also the fact that disunion in civil war were not going to be tolerated in this country.
