The Top 10 Surprises of the Past Year
The biggest surprise is that there is an independent Ukraine still standing. I think even those of us who had learned from the Iraq war that just because something is a really stupid idea doesn't mean a country won't do it. The Ukrainian resistance, their strength, their imaginative strategy and how quickly the West united to support them. So I'd say that's the top surprise from a year ago.
