The Meal Market in Manhattan
Manhattan had a large town aspect, but also they were farming that was also being taken place. Some of the same crops we associate with the southern aspects of slavery were also present in New York. Artist Marcus Brown created these ghostly figures to symbolize this non-existent family unit throughout the process of chattel slavery existence.
