The Importance of Acceptance

"I choose what my life is going to be. I always wanted to go to Illinois and to prove them wrong," she says of her high school years. "It was worth that month long detention. It was so worth it." She also talks about growing up in a strict Catholic family with an old-school dad who believed boys did the work and girls stayed home cooking clean.
