In many ways the technological advances of the post-industrial world have disrupted that to such a degree that humanity is essentially rootless right now we don't really know where we come from. Some of that has made us tremendously vulnerable bad readings of history to novel ideas without knowing that their novel like radically new ideas they're believing and just assuming it's how everybody else reads history. The story of the Christian church is fundamentally a story of decline particularly with respect to the Christian church, he says.
