The Risks of Snipering
You're never free of risk from artillery. If some gunner back behind the German lines decides to just adjust the dial a bit more that way, that could be the end of you. The trenches are in bays and if a shell lands, it only kills those in that bay. But it depends who's in that bay or perhaps if a high explosive crashes into a dugout full of people. Those are the main risks. And of course you could get gas, which may not kill you, but if you get a whiff of it, then it can give you severe problems with your throat.
