Rheumatoid arthritis has an insidious onset of morning stiffness and polyarthropathy. The disease is associated with specific HLA loci, that is HLA-DR4 and HLA-DW4. There's an approximately 15% rate of concordance amongst monocygotic twins. On physical exam, you may find subcutaneous nodules in 20% of patients.
