The Dissolution of Institutional Libraries
When heidelberg was captured in the early 16 twenties, the entire library was carted off to the vatican. It just also shows you how political libraries are, and that libraries have always been a political space. We see this er very well with the emergence of the protestant reformation in the sixteenth cent. There was a sense that a library should have books that don't agree with your creed or confession, but you should, of course, restrict access to them.
