Alonso was universally admired at every club he was at in terms of his personality. He has worked for the three recognised titans of kind of modern management. I think obviously the relationship with Benita's went south after a few years, but most managers would say that he was exactly the sort of player you want around. And if you look at the coaches he played under, you could not ask for a better grounding in the art of management.
