The Mixed Economy of Journalism
I had this kind of list of five or six feature ideas. I think I did like two or three of them for prospect. And then the FT magazine got in touch and commissioned me to write a story. So it's kind of always been until very recently a kind of mixed economy. Do you know what I mean? It was helpful to have some clarity between, you know, week magazines,. Exit magazine and Times Online. You could grow up dreaming of writing for New to it. But as you get into it you realise that places pay and places don't pay. They're not always totally obvious what those are.
