Robert Mondavi - The First Winery in America
Robert Mondavi was part of one of the most incredible explosions in the wine business in America that ever happened. In 1968, he grew Savion Blanc in the Toquilán Vineyard and aged it like they do on the left bank of Bordeaux. Fume Blanc became a synonym for Oak Age Savion Blanc. It's a completely invented term that never existed before Mandavi. And all of the sudden, these wines became world class as a white wine.
