Warren Bardsley's career went off a cliff post World War I. He was playing club cricket and studying medicine near South Wales. It did prompt selection in the Australian 11 versus the rest in December 1925, which according to reports was seen as a bit of a trial game for the 1926 Ashesture that is to say the form. A game where the best players are brought together will have a big effect on the selection for the biggest squad that goes to England. The newspapers can't believe that if unearthed this gem near South Wales, where has he come from? That's where he's come from.
