What Happened to the Germans?
The government decided people would not be allowed to shelter in the london underground. They were worried that by being lots of people going into these deep shelters, a kind of troglodike unity would build up. People became very paranoid and started trying to force their way down tubes. And eventually the government decided there was nothing they could do about it. It's one of the sort of obbligations of our time: we don't know what will happen next.
