How different would history have been if William Etheline hadn't gone down with the white ship? I don't think there would have been a hundred years war because we had just been bound up in English and Norman politics. It was the huge wealth and power of the anchivian empire that brought us into conflict with so much. And you can go even further and question when the Reformation would have hit England if we hadn't had, again, this sort of influence.
