Spiral Staircases Are Not Found in the High Status Areas of a Building

Spiral staircases are only ever found in lordly structures. You're not finding them in the towers of town walls, for example. And so it sounds like they kind of become this almost like a signpost to say 'I'm here' So I want it to be comfortable for me and my family to exist in it but also impregnable.
