The Importance of Libraries in the Nineteenth Century

When printing came along in the fifteenth century, this was a real boon too to professional people like scholars, enloyers and doctors. This also meant of course, that the great collectors of the manuscript era, dukes and princes felt that their effortsr were being outdone by lowly lawyers and merchants living in the same town. So instead, they turned to collecting very fine paintings, or tapestries, or, i gathering together a zoo of exotic animals. Ad all of a sudden, every one could codacus. And this issue of building or acquiring books for text verses an element or of display still persists.
