The Role of Gender in Media Performances

I was wondering if you could expand on the gendered norm discussed in the book that may hinder women from expressing dislike and how this relates to larger cultural systems of dislike including political context. I got really fascinated by how performances of dislike are so often gendered. It began with one of my one of my researchers taught or interviewers talked to quite a lot of older white women, particularly who really refused the idea that they disliked something because they didn't want to be negative. And there was a real sense of propriety about how they talked about it. Like, negative is not something that we should do. It's not proper.
