Some of wedgewood's pieces celebrated free trade. It seems quite a bold move, doesn't it, specially considering the fact that he had a royal patron so, for example, tha, the american example. If that had been public knowledge back in britain, might h have got him in some hot water. But it's also a kind of exciting sense of the fluidity of some of the politics of that period. I think there was almost a freedom there that you could have this political debate even at the same time as you were a potter to her majesty.
