The Politics of Democracy by Donald Trump
The first half of the book is this very interesting history of what at least i thought of as the kind of institutional background of american democracy. And you frame it as a story of this continuous push and pull between demands for more citizen participation, and on the other hand, the desire of political parties to have more top down control. In particular, how this plays out at the beginning of the countrywith people like thomas jefferson and andrew jackson. Because i think in some very important ways, that sets the templet for cont of everything that happens going forward and to day in American politics.
