Is Your Network Partitioning a Ton of Data?
A number of notes changesit. Sometimes you'll add another sometimes one will go down, either temporarily or permanently. Every time you do that, if you're hashing by the number of nodes, then you're going to be moving data around a ton. And all you need is for one part of your network to be slow to respond. You hae the rest of the nodes to think, oh, we just lost the node. Time to repartition the data. Yes. Called it stampeding cattle, or im afraid, they call it. But basicallyit is protm just blows out of proportion because now it starts adding nodes really quickly.
