Is Your Reason for Drinking Helping Your Depression?

Alcohol might actually be fixing your problem of depression. In low doses, alcohol may have some antidepressant effects. However, drinking regularly causes us to build up a tolerance so then we need more alcohol to achieve the same effect. The problem, though, is this relationship goes away in higher doses of alcohol. In chronic high doses, alcohol makes depression and anxiety worse. So, then we keep needing to drink to try to manage something that drinking is causing. I discussed why alcohol causes depression fully in episode 63.
