The Politics of the 70s and 80s
In many ways the contours of this story are shaped by the political attitudes of the time. I wanted to talk a little bit about some of the civilian political groups that emerged during the 70s and 80s, particularly CND. What were they and what's their role in this story? Well, of course, the most famous one is CND. But really, CND ended each fear, whether they like to admit that or not. They depended upon the rest of us being terrified. And so it's wrong to tell the public or to imply to the public that you can prepare for it. Not only does that mislead people, but it maybe it leads us closer to nuclear war
