International Law - What Should History Affect?
The Vienna Convention on the Love Treaties gives us some guidance as to what you know original intent and drafting history should play in interpretation. I'm not the first one to make a passion case for history within international law but I certainly will do it again or twice do it again so I think going back to the archives can tell us something new about the conventions or international law more generally that we can't do if we would just stick to current debates only if that makes any sense. History of course can give us a sense of hope which might be something important today as humanitarian law goes through another crisis.
