Cocurbita Peppo Seeds in North America
For a long time, anthropologists didn't know that domestication had happened independently and separately in eastern north america. A lot of the reason was confusion over gord seeds of a particular species called cocurbita peppo. It's very hard to tell exactly what sort of variety of seed you're looking at. So we know that people three four thousand years b c in easternnorthamerica collections of crocubita peppo seeds. And once they had these domesticated varieties, they then went on to also domesticate and cultivate other sorts of plants.
