Witchcraft Trials - The Seventeenth Century
Why was the seventeenth century such a time of witchcraft trials? What was going on there? There are lots of things really. As the world started to open up and god began to be removed from human affairs, a lot of people got worried about it. And one way to defend a belief in god, and one way to make god still relevant to day to day happenings, was to look for the presence of the devil. The fact that the witch trins erupt and straddle this divide is really quite something.
