I think Scott Morrison deserves a good deal of the credit for driving this. He's not famous for his strategic vision and long term planning but between them, I think they did a lot of the lifting. It's important to recognize that since you and I last met in Sydney, there has been a significant shift. Back then it was becoming apparent to more and more Australians that Cold War II was underway. And any notion of a harmonious relationship with China was fading. Since then it's only got worse. Not only has China lent extremely hard on Australia economically,. But Australia as much as any other country has been impacted by a pandemic that had its origin in China. This was an avoid
