The ten d b rule isn't always true. If you're doing, if you're doing vocals, horns, probably ok. You get into percussion, you get unto guitars, it's probably way beyond ten d b. So we take that input knob and we bring it up until we're just tickling the over the peak light, right? Right? In that way, we know we're addressing the peak, but we're still leaving maximum dynamic range of the r m s, right? Enough.
