The Resistance to the English Overlord Chip
There were military engagements between Britons, proto-Cornish and angler Saxons. Most Cornish people would have been explicit about the idea of Cornwall being utterly distinct from England. I think there was a slow process of assimilation. The really remarkable story is the fact that a kind of kernel of difference did endure through all of that.
