What was Alexander's aim when he went across to Persian 334 BC? Was he just trying to win back the Greek cities of Asia Minor? Did he have a new empire, a new Macedonian empire in the East in mind? It's one of the great debating points. These were ambitious people. I think we tend to put limits on people's ambitions in the past. Why not go big or go home, as they say.
