The Different Types of RIF Techniques
The extensile lateral L-shaped incision is the most popular. Close reduction and percutaneous pinning can be combined with cannulated screws. A calcaneal transfixing pin can be used to distract the fracture. The pins are then cut flush with the skin and removed 8 to 10 weeks post-op.
