Rasanjani's Disqualification Is a Signal to Kharmani, a Trusted Confidant of Rasanjad
Rasanjani was seen as a steady pair of hands, an establishment figure. Rohani wasn't close to Rasanjani, but he wouldn't have held this sort of very, very kind of important position, Supreme National Security Council for so many years. Many people didn't think that Rouhani would actually win because of Ahmadinejad's two terms. But it seems Khamenei himself was very, very aware that there was a need to sort of solve the nuclear impasse.
