The Battle of Waterloo
In 1815, people didn't have the benefit of knowing what was going to come and that it wasn't going to. They weren't going to be further battles that might overshadow it. I wonder what was the first draft of history? How was Waterloo recorded in the immediate aftermath of the battle? The first access that the average person has to this is the dispatches from the generals. And in the UK we're talking about Wellington's dispatch, which arrives in London on the 21st of June - carried by Major Henry Percy.
