Rapanui

Before european contact, we have no evidence at all of population and decline. And what is clear now is that that did not happen before the europeans arrived. It happened afterwards, andd because of it. The populations were quite abused. There was a lot of violence taking place as well. Then later on, we start having slovh raids on really massive scales,. especially from peru. So vast numbers of people are taken off the island. Eventually there is a big international outcry, and some people repatriated. But with them, when they are sent back to rapanui, they also take with them a deseases like smallpox. That has disastrous m
