This has nothing to do with the ongoing dispute between democrats and republicans, except in the sense that mitch mc connell is linking them. As a fiscal matter, raising the debt limit now is about making sure that the united states is able to fulfil bills that have already been incurred by previous legislative action. It's all just a giant sort of gordian knot that needs to be untangled in some way,. lest we incur, really, the massively negative consequences of defunc buts. Why does he want to do this? He doesn't disagree that there needs to be a raise in the debt limit his disagreement is with democrats on these other spending packages.
